Local Government and Circular Economy | Antonis Tritsis Program

The Hellenic Association for Energy Economics is happy to host another Virtual Event, titled “Local Government and Circular Economy | Antonis Tritsis Program”.

Recently, the Ministers of Interior, Finance and Development co-signed the new Program “Antonis Tritsis”, promoting economic, social and environmental projects for the sustainable development of Local Government. The Program also foresees a series of actions for the support of local societies’ increased needs, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.  

At the same time, the circular economy has lately been promoted as the new development model, able to act as a catalyst on economic restructuring and offer sustainability.  

The virtual discussion will analyze the local dimension of the two aforementioned topics, as well as, the integration of circular economy principles in local government, so as municipalities can act as promoters of a sustainable, cooperative and social economy, providing a better life quality to their citizens.    

The discussion focused on the following areas:

• The priority pillars of “Antonis Tritsis Program”
• Best practice examples on circular economy implementation from cities of Greece and abroad
• The role of Local Government in society’s transition to circular economy, energy efficiency and e-mobility
• Organising a smart city with upgraded digital services
• The Program’s positive footprint in citizens’ lives
