This edition of HAEE’s Chart of the Month provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of the electric vehicle (EV) market in Greece, capturing key trends, structural challenges, and future prospects. Drawing on data from EV registrations, pricing developments, and national policy targets, the analysis illustrates a market that is clearly gaining momentum but has not yet reached mass adoption.
The chart shows a steady increase in BEV and PHEV registrations and a growing share of EVs in total vehicle sales. At the same time, the gap between current uptake and the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) targets remains significant, highlighting the scale of the transition still required over the coming years. Cost continues to be a critical barrier, as average EV prices remain relatively high despite the gradual expansion of available models and the support of financial incentives.
Importantly, the analysis also points to encouraging structural shifts: a broader range of EV models entering the Greek market and rising monthly registrations that suggest movement beyond early adopters. Overall, this edition underscores that while Greece is on the right trajectory, sustained policy consistency, expanded charging infrastructure, and improved affordability will be decisive in determining whether electric mobility can scale at the pace required.
