May 6-8: 4th Annual Symposium:

Energy Transition IV SE Europe and beyond

Athens, May 3, 2019 – There is great interest in view of the 4th Annual Symposium organized by the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (HAEE) which is taking place on 6-8 May at the

Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, with only a few days left until many experienced executives from the domestic and international energy scene will unravel the breadth of developments in the industry.

HAEE has developed the Symposium into an institution and just like the three previous years, this year’s Symposium titled “Energy Transition IV SE Europe and beyond” combines quantity and quality as in the duration of the three days, there will be many sessions with over 100 speeches and presentations by distinguished executives, academics and policymakers, covering all the contemporary issues of the energy sector with Energy Transition to a low carbon economy in the center of attention.  

The session panels and thematics have been designed so that the participants will be able to formulate a very accurate opinion regarding the developments in the energy sector in Greece, the SE European region, the EU and the world.

More specifically, speaking with numbers, the Symposium discussion panels will be comprised of:

-more than 100 distinguished speakers

-over 40 local and international companies

-15 organizations and Think Tanks

-10 top tier Greek and international academic institutions

-over 15 institutional bodies and regulatory Authorities

Indicatively the thematics of the Symposium include:

-Developments in the Greek, European and international energy markets

-Geopolitical developments, energy security issues and how they affect energy transition

-Developments in the sectors of natural gas, oil, electricity and RES in Greece, SE Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean

-Challenges and innovations of the transition to the green economy

-New funding and business models in the energy sector

-Developments in privatizations in the Greek energy market

-The role of networks and innovation in the energy sector

-Environmental issues and industry

-Regulatory issues regarding the energy transition in Europe

Who will participate in this year’s Symposium:

In this May's Symposium, there will be speakers from DG Energy and DG Environment, banking institutions such as EBRD, World Bank/IFC, NBG, ENEX, HRAF, US Congressional Research Service, as well as ambassadors, ministers from other countries and executives from top European and global corporations such as Enagas, Fluxys, GE, Suntech Power, Total, Engie, Saipem, Enel, Naturgy, Scale Gas, Enedis, Akuo Energy, Snam, Energean, Siemens-Gamesa and of course, high level executives from IAEE. On the Greek side, representatives of the government will participate, such as the energy minister, a representative from the foreign ministry, party leaders, heads of energy policy from the opposition and other parties, regulatory authorities, such as RAE, academics, members of HAEE, executives from public and private corporations, such as PPC, HEDNO, ADMIE, HHRM, HELPE, DESFA, DEPA, EPA Attica, EDA Attica, EDA Thessaloniki-Thessalia, Natural Gas Attica, A+ Insurance Brokers, Nostira, ZeniΘ and others, while especially important is the strategic partnership with top global think tanks like the Global Gas Centre, Atlantic Council, S&P Platts, REN21 and recognized business associations and chambers (Greek- American, Greek-French, Greek-Russian, Greek-Italian, Greek-Spanish, SBE, STHEV, PCCI).
