Academy Stavros Niarchos Foundation Senior Fellowship

Chatham House will provide a dynamic base within which the fellows can pursue their own research interests; further develop their personal interaction, communication and leadership skills; extend their global networks; and deepen their expertise by contributing to the institute’s research and activities. This experience will inform the fellows’ contributions to improved regional and national decision-making on issues of great relevance to prosperity and security in Europe and the world.

Call for applications

The 2017 application window is now open. The call will close on Monday 31 October 2016 at 17.00 GMT.

The fellowship is open to Greek nationals and the Greek diaspora. Candidates should be at an advanced stage in their career and should already have some research and publication experience. The 6-month fellowship will begin in February 2017.

Research topics

The fellows are hosted by and based in research teams at Chatham House. During the fellowship, the fellow will conduct a research project of their own design. Below are the research themes for 2017. Submitted research proposals must fit broadly within one of these themes.

Research topic with the Asia Programme:

Assessing China’s relationship with, and investment in, Greece

Research topic with the Europe Programme:

Greece-Turkey relations, in the context of the refugee crisis and the wider EU-Turkey relationship

Research topic with the Europe Programme and Russia and Eurasia Programme:

Russia’s role and influence in southeast Europe

Research topic with the Centre on Global Health Security:

The Health of Refugees and Migrants

Research topic with the International Security Department:

The impact of EU domestic security policies on counterterrorism
