6th HAEE Energy Transition Symposium | Latest News

The Hellenic Association for Energy Economics will host the 6th annual Energy Transition Symposium, at Theoxenia Palace Hotel in Kifisia, Athens, Greece, for four consecutive days, from Tuesday, 28 September to Friday, 1 October 2021, offering the unique opportunity for a thorough exchange of experience and knowledge in the important global energy sector.

Following the unusual circumstances of 2020, HAEE’s flagship gathering on energy transition will focus on the turbulences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and its prints on the global energy system. Despite the sharp decrease in global emissions last year, due to the recession of economic activities, enormous efforts are still required to reach the ambitious target of a net zero carbon economy. Governments need to take decisive actions and implement structural measures to accelerate the clean energy transition and pave the way towards a sustainable recovery. On top of that, renewable energy solutions can play a key role, providing a fast response to the pandemic and building more resilient energy systems. These issues, among many others, will be addressed in detail during the Symposium’s sessions.

Once again, the annual Symposium will serve as an open-dialogue platform, where state, academia and private sector representatives will contribute to debates and dialogue on crucial energy matters and diffuse their knowledge to the audience.

The 6th Energy Transition Symposium will be honored by the presence of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostas Skrekas, the Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the US Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt, the Ambassador of France to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Patrick Maisonnave, the Ambassador of Spain to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Enrique Viguera Rubio, the CEO of DESFA, Ms. Maria Rita Galli, the CEO of the Energy Exchange Group, Mr. George Ioannou, the President of CERA, Mr. Andreas Poullikkas, the President of RAE, Prof. Athanasios Dagoumas, and many more prominent market executives, academics and state representatives.

The Symposium will be held with the physical presence of speakers and participants (in compliance with public health regulations regarding Covid-19) and will feature livestreamed sessions with free participation of all members and friends.

HAEE is delighted to invite you to mark your calendars today and looks forward to welcoming you “Looking Ahead with Optimism, Beyond the Covid Era”.
