The new issue of the “Quarterly Greek Energy Market Snapshot”, covers the 3^rd and 4^th trimester of 2021, providing key figures and statistical data of the Greek energy sector, as well as a holistic overview of numbers and statistics related to the Electricity Market, Renewable Energy Sources, Natural Gas Market and Oil & Refining.

This new edition is focused on hydrogen, the fuel of the future. As Mr. Leonidas Bakouras, General Manager of EDA THESS, cited in the Report, the decarbonization of the networks should be gradually based on the injection of (currently unavailable) biomethane and the green hydrogen in the long term in Greece. The affordability, sustainability and security of supply are crucial to achieve a just energy transition.

During the Q3-Q4 period of 2021, five hydrogen-related projects were included in the first round of Important Projects of Common European Interest IPCEI, setting the starting point for large hydrogen projects and supporting the decarbonization plan in Greece. The National Hydrogen Roadmap, which has been prepared during the same period, will create the necessary framework to develop innovative technologies and a hydrogen value chain.

From 2022 onwards, the Snapshot will get a full update! It will be published on a 4-month basis under a brand new name, "In Focus", and an enriched content, including not only in-depth analysis of the energy sector, but key opinion leaders and experts’ point of view, along with scientific papers from academics and senior researchers.
