Dear members and friends, The energy transition is increasingly becoming a major driver of global employment growth. The latest Chart of the Month Vol.38 highlights how jobs across the energy sector are expanding as investment in renewable energy, electrification and infrastructure accelerates. Renewable energy alone accounted for 16.6 million jobs globally in 2024, with solar PV representing 44% of total renewable energy employment. At the same time, employment in the EU energy supply sector is projected to increase by 19.6% between 2022 and 2035. Greece is expected to experience even stronger growth, with energy sector employment projected to rise by 52.9%. The data also reveal a growing demand for technical and applied skills, highlighting the importance of workforce development, vocational training and reskilling as the energy system becomes more digitalised and decentralised.
