Research Associate – Sustainability & ESG policies

Job Description

The Hellenic Association for Energy Economics is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization dedicated to providing an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of knowledge, information, and experience among energy industry experts, academics, government officials, and other professionals interested in energy economics. HAEE was founded in Greece in 2015 and is the official affiliate of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), a leading worldwide non-profit professional organization based in the United States, with members in over 100 nations. Currently undergoing a phase of growth and expansion, HAEE is looking for a Research Associate to join the growing team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Researching current market trends in sustainability/ESG/Climate Change.
  • Reviewing and analyzing corporate activities and providing recommendations related to enhancing ESG/sustainability strategy, methods, framework, and related tools.
  • Providing consulting and advisory services on current and upcoming regulations around sustainable finance and their overall impact on firms in the Energy Sector.
  • Evaluating ESG performance and providing tailored recommendations to achieve net-zero and ESG targets in the Energy Sector.
  • Collating, analyzing, and presenting complex data from diverse resources
  • Conducting research in energy markets, including historical trends and future outlook.
  • Providing academic support to the Association’s annual conferences and research-focused events.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Engineering Diploma.
  • Energy-related MSc is strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks, such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and CDP.
  • Experience in EU and national funding research projects is preferable.
  • Understanding of the Greek energy market landscape and EU and national policies (Fitf55, Green Deal, National Energy & Climate Plan).
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
